Overview
A Lamborghini Huracán has been introduced in the market, which is a step above the Performante. It is called the STO (Super Trofeo Omologata) and is designed to provide a road-going Lambo experience similar to the Super Trofeo Evo one-make racer and GT3 Evo cars. According to Lamborghini, this car is the first one they have developed where the focus is primarily on track performance rather than road driving. Lamborghini has pushed the STO even further than the Aventador SVJ to compete with rivals such as McLaren's 620R or 765LT, the AMG GT Black Series, and the inevitable hardcore version of the 296GTB that Ferrari will release.
This car lacks plushness, causing it to jiggle at low speeds and follow road cambers, but the positive side is that it communicates well and doesn't hide anything from the driver.
Interior
The seats in this vehicle are exceptionally comfortable and highly adjustable. They tilt for optimal use, making them far more useful than the usual Lambo trend. The STO provides an excellent position to experience it from, as you sit low with your feet pushed forward and a deep windscreen in front of you. The car is unfiltered, meaning that noises echo around and stones ping into the arches, but this gives it an exotic and exciting feel. Despite this, the cabin quality is good due to Audi's influence, and the screen functionality is also decent. If you take the time to remove the engine cover, which requires a special triangular key located in the driver's footwell, you'll find that the gold-topped engine is impressive, but the rest of it is scruffier than you might expect.
The Huracán STO is a part of the Huracán line-up that seamlessly blends Italian design with the user-friendliness and reliability that comes from being owned by Audi. The STO is the epitome of a true Lamborghini, with every element of the design feeling and looking like one. The car takes things to the next level with its hard floor coverings, reminiscent of a race car, and unique seats. However, Australian customers have only been given one option for seats, and they are too high for someone with a height of 180cm. This means that taller drivers may find themselves hunching to fit in the car, especially if they wear a helmet on the track. It would be great to have a lower seat option for taller owners.
The Huracán STO is an impressive car on the road, but it truly shines on the racetrack. However, the beauty of this car is that unlike the Super Trofeo or the Huracán GT3, you can drive it to the racetrack, have some fun, and then drive it back home without requiring any tow trucks, transporters, or a race crew.
Exterior
The STO is a car that proudly displays its racing heritage. Lamborghini has made an effort to create a vehicle that adheres to road regulations while incorporating as many features from the Huracán Super Trofeo and GT3 models as possible. This means that the STO is a rear-wheel drive car, as opposed to all-wheel drive, and has a unique body that has been refined and optimized through the use of racetracks and wind tunnels.
It's the same 5.2-litre V10 found in the rest of the range but for the STO it's tuned to make 470kW of power and 565Nm of torque, which is actually less pulling power than the Huracán Evo (which makes 470kW and 600Nm). The reason for this new engine tune is down to the switch to the rear-wheel drive layout, allowing the rear tyres (as enormous as they are) to better transmit all that grunt to the tarmac.
And trust me when I say, you won't miss those 35Nm. The STO absolutely flies, the acceleration is intense, rocketing from 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.0 seconds and taking just 9.0 seconds to get to 200km/h. It feels every millisecond that quick, with an almost immediate forward surge anytime you stand on the accelerator.
It feels even faster thanks to the noise. At a time when the Huracán's rivals are switching to hybrid power (and its successor is expected to as well) the scream of this V10 engine is something special and worth savouring. It's impossible to put into words just how glorious this engine sounds but from the cabin you do feel like you're in a race car.
Specs
The exclusive and advanced suite of connected technologies are ready to raise driving engagement to a level never experienced before. Lamborghini Connect gives STO drivers peace of mind when they are not at the wheel and always up to date functions on board while driving. Every race car requires extreme aerodynamics and to achieve that level of performance on the new road-legal Huracán STO, Lamborghini has used all its racing experience.

It feels like a racer with its dramatic and raucous personality, yet underneath, it truly knows its way around a circuit. Owning an STO means unlocking its full potential on the track, and experiencing the thrill of driving a Lamborghini as it was meant to be driven.
