Overview

People often quote "Carpe diem," insinuating "seize the day." But at Porsche, we approach the new 911 GT3 models with a distinctive slogan: "carpe secundum," implying "take full advantage of every second." We acknowledge the importance of your time, and cherish each moment you spend in the driver's seat. That's precisely why we've amplified all elements that define a sports car: capability, adjustment, and aerodynamics. Time is fleeting, and it's your turn to savor your moments. Step inside and encounter the experience for yourself.

The GTS was introduced a decade ago to fill the space between the Carrera S and Turbo models. However, at that time, the regular 911s were naturally aspirated and the Turbos were supercharged, hence the GTS was not the perfect solution. It was essentially an upgraded Carrera S with a bit more power, some additional features, and a slightly higher price tag. Therefore, it did not quite bridge the gap between the Carrera S and Turbo models, especially in terms of performance.

Interior

The build quality of the interior is excellent. Every point of contact feels luxurious, sturdy, and well-constructed. Despite having reduced sound insulation, I am surprised to find that there are hardly any creaks, groans, or rattles. The driver's seat is undoubtedly the best seat in the car. Many have criticized Porsche's design for the outer two digital screens on the instrument cluster display, which make the fuel gauge on the far right and the time and temperature display on the far left difficult to see when the steering wheel blocks the driver's view.

The 911's interior exudes sophistication and elegance, yet it remains user-friendly, with a smart combination of buttons, knobs, and touch-screen controls. For the first time, it comes with a large center cupholder, and the gauge cluster has been updated with mostly digital instruments. The central tachometer still uses a physical needle, adding an analog touch to the digital display. The low-slung driving position and supportive front seats make for a fantastic driving experience, aided by a wide range of adjustments available on the steering wheel. The only minor drawbacks are the overuse of piano black trim on the center console, limited interior storage, and a somewhat underwhelming shifter on automatic-equipped models. Nonetheless, the 911 remains an iconic car, with a timeless design and unparalleled driving experience.

The suspension is impressive as the Turbo-sourced adaptive dampers connect you with the surface while brushing aside any potential nasties. The body control and composure on rough roads is immense.

Exterior

The new rear wing features a swan-neck connection that provides extra downforce. Large slats for increased downforce: the rear diffuser. Front apron with extended openings for optimised brake cooling. Inspired by motorsport: carbon bonnet with integrated air outlets.

Developed in Flacht, at home on the racetrack: the 4.0-litre six-cylinder high-speed naturally aspirated engine. With a sound that makes your heart beat faster. Feels and sounds close to the racetrack. With the 911 GT3, it’s not only the driving experience that gives you that authentic motorsport feeling – it’s the roar of its thoroughbred performance engine.

Specs

Every 911 is outfitted with a 10.9-inch touchscreen integrated into the middle of the dashboard. In addition to voice commands and buttons on the steering wheel, the center screen also features rotary push-button controls on the console. The infotainment system supports a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wired Android Auto. Porsche does provide two high-end surround-sound systems that include a 12-speaker Bose unit and a 13-speaker Burmester stereo.

Summary

Although the GT3 and GT3 Touring models are designed for thrilling performance on challenging race courses, they are equally comfortable to drive on city streets. It is possibly the best car that Porsche has ever made, and given the current regulations, it might be the best one they will ever produce. However, it's not wise to underestimate the skills of Porsche's engineers to achieve another miracle when it's time to replace this car, considering the remarkable accomplishments with this one.
